In the past different Clubs and States have calculated their Championships using different criteria’s. This meant that a rabbit that won awards in another state could not get these awards recognised elsewhere. In some states this also meant that a rabbit could not transfer its winnings from one Club to another. So a rabbit could be winning shows across states and Clubs and yet all these points and stars could not be combined under the one system. With ANRCI operating across Australia this should now be possible.
Our main priority is for our ANRCI affiliated Clubs and members. We are aware that some of these members have rabbits from past years that have won a lot of CC’s and would like to carry these points forward in an organised way. We also know that in several states, affiliated Club members are also showing (and winning CC’s) in non affiliated Clubs, and they would like these CC’s recognised within the ANRCI Championship system.
It has been very difficult to create a system that was fair to everyone. We believe that exhibitors and members of our affiliated Clubs should be able to claim their Championships, but we also think it is very important for everyone to be on level terms on the basis of how they win their Challenge Certificates and how many high star shows they have the opportunity to win at. We also think it is extremely important not to ‘cheapen’ the winning of an ANRCI Championship. Winning a Championship is public recognition that your rabbit is an excellent specimen of the Breed, can win under different judges, and in different levels of competition over a long period of time. Clubs offering too many high star status shows also cheapen the importance of a Championship as there are too many stars on offer and not enough competition thus allowing a rabbit, in a class where there is little competition, to quickly collect the stars necessary for a Champion.
The advantage for exhibitors that are members of an ANRCI affiliated Club is that we have a Points Registrar that receives all the results from all the affiliated Clubs and keeps a record of all the rabbits exhibited across Australia and the points that they have won. You will still need to produce the Challenge Certificates and Prize Cards to receive any Championship Certificates, but it will be much easier to see whether you are entitled to a Championship.
With ANRCI there are two types of Championship systems.
One is based on the Challenge Certificates that a rabbit wins at a show.
The other is based on how far through the show the rabbit progresses.
CHALLENGE CERTIFICATE STAR POINTS SYSTEM.
The Challenge Certificates and Diplomas go towards the Challenge Certificate Star Point System. In order to claim these certificates these conditions must apply:
a. The exhibitor must be a member of the ANRCI or the Challenge Certificate won at a show run by an ANRCI Affiliated Club. It is the Exhibitors responsibility to retain and apply for Diplomas.
b. The judges must be accredited judges.
c. The Challenge Certificates and Diplomas must be issued by a minimum of three different judges.
d. There is no age or time limit to accumulate the specified number of stars.
The value of the Challenge Certificate is the number of stars stamped on it. The value of a Diploma is always one star.
The certificates and the number of stars required are as follows
15 Stars Australian Bronze Star Diploma
20 Stars Australian Double Bronze Star Diploma
25 Stars Australian Triple Bronze Star Diploma
35 Stars Australian Silver Star Diploma
45 Stars Australian Double Silver Star Diploma
55 Stars Australian Triple Silver Star Diploma
70 Stars Australian Gold Star Diploma
85 Stars Australian Double Gold Star Diploma
100 Stars Australian Triple Gold Star Diploma
The Certificates will be issued upon application to the Secretary of the ANRCI with all relevant Diplomas and Challenge Certificates. The full name of the exhibit must be supplied to the Secretary if you wish this to be on the certificate
AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP POINT SYSTEM.
This system is based on the awards won at shows from the level of Best of Breed upwards. This is because in the case of a rabbit in a class of its own, it has to be placed first unless it is deemed to be not representative of its breed. Best of Breed, however, can only be awarded to a rabbit who in the opinion of the judge is clearly of above average quality. This exhibit must therefore compare favourably with the ideal rabbit.
The points can be awarded at all ANRCI shows and all Affiliated All Breed Club shows. The points awarded from Affiliated Clubs will apply from Jan 1st 2017
The system works on a scale of values relating to various awards up to Best in Show, below is the breakdown of the points:
25.1 This system is based on the awards won at shows from the level of Best of Breed upwards.
This is because in the case of a rabbit in a class of its own, it has to be placed first unless it is deemed to be not representative of its breed eg not worthy of a cc so a Best of
Breed, however, can only be awarded to a rabbit who in the opinion of the judge is clearly of above average quality.
This exhibit must therefore compare favourably with the ideal
rabbit to be awarded a bob
25.2 The points can be awarded at all ANRCI shows and all Affiliated All Breed Club shows.
The points awarded from Affiliated Clubs will apply from Jan 1st 2017
25.3 Points will be awarded to individual exhibits for the highest award only.
Therefore Best in Show receives 15 points only and does not receive the 2 points for Best of Breed as well.
Best of Breed 3 Points
Runner up Adult, u/5, u/14 9 Points
Best Adult, u/5, u/14 11 Points
Best Fancy, Lop, Fur and Rex 10 Points
Runner up Fancy, Fur, Lop, Rex 8 Points
Third Best in Show 13 Points
Runner up in Show 14 Points
Best in Show 15 Points
25.4 Points will be awarded to individual exhibits for the highest award only. Therefore Best in Show receives 15 points only and does not receive the 3 points for Best of Breed as well.
In the event of a rabbit winning Third in Show otherwise receiving less than 13 points, they shall be awarded a maximum of 13 points.
All other points to remain the same.
Points will be awarded to individual exhibits for the highest award only. Therefore Best in Show receives 10 points only and does not receive the 5 points for Best of Breed as well.
In the event of a rabbit winning Third in Show otherwise receiving less than 8 points, they shall be awarded a maximum of 8 points.
All other points to remain the same.
The Championship is divided into several levels as follows
20 points Australian Champion
40 points Australian Double Champion
60 points Australian Triple Champion
80 points Australian Grand Champion
100 points Australian Double Grand Champion
120 points Australian Triple Grand Champion
140 points Australian Supreme Champion
160 points Australian Double Supreme Champion
180 points Australian Triple Supreme Champion
Once a rabbit has accumulated 200 points, the owner will be presented with a Special Award, The Australian Supreme Champion.
This Championship System will also be used to award Perpetual Trophies at the end of the year to the highest scoring exhibits or breeds. These Perpetual Trophies may be donated by any Club or Individual.
a. Affiliated Clubs will need to send their Show results to ANRCI so the points can be calculated.
b. The winners of the Championship Perpetual Trophies will be announced following the final rabbit show each year.
Challenge Certificate Star System (Reciprocal Rules)
In several states in Australia exhibitors can show in affiliated and non affiliated Clubs. ANRCI would like to allow these members to be able to claim Championships for their rabbits using all the certificates they have won.
However we believe that a greater percentage of these cards should be won at an ANRCI affiliated Club. This prevents exhibitors showing rarely at an affiliated Club but still claiming an ANRCI Championship.
This would mean that a TNSWRAI member that is showing at both TNSWRAI and other Clubs in NSW could use the cards from the non affiliated Clubs as well as the cards from TNSWRAI. ANRCI would still have to examine how the Challenge Certificates are being issued by the other Clubs on a case by case basis.
The conditions that these will be allowed are the same as above.
i. The owner of the Rabbit must be a member of an ANRCI affiliated Club
ii. 70% of the Stars must be won at an ANRCI affiliated Club.
iii. The number of stars awarded on past years will be based on the ANRCI guidelines on the number of each star status shows per Club per year
1. Championship Point System (see Appendix 2) prior to 2012
As this system is based on the progress a rabbit makes in a show it is much more easily transferrable between Clubs.
In order to claim a Championship you must be able to produce the relevant prize cards.
